Planetary Gongs

Sound baths to receive. The art of playing to learn.

What Is a Planetary Gong?

Planetary gongs are large, hand‑hammered gongs, each tuned to the orbital frequency of a planet, the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and beyond. Played as a complete set, they fill the room with the tones of the whole solar system.

Each gong has its own physical presence. As it sounds, the vibrations move through the air and into the body, rounding out the frequencies of the day's astrological chart. It is less like listening to music and more like being immersed in it. There are two ways to meet the gongs at Chiron: lie back and receive a sound bath, or learn to play them yourself, one on one with Ron.

Experience

Sound Baths

Lie down and let an array of resonant instruments wash over you: planetary gongs, Tibetan and crystal bowls, working together to create a calming, restorative atmosphere.

A sound bath is more than auditory delight. As the vibrations move through you, stress melts away, sleep becomes a deeper refuge, and the mind settles into stillness. It is a symphony of rejuvenation for body, mind, and spirit, and a genuine escape from a busy life.

Come on your own or share it. Sessions run daily by appointment, and as scheduled public gatherings through the month.

The Art of Playing

Drawing on decades of experience with therapeutic sound, Ron helps you explore the subtle techniques that bring a gong fully to life: mallet choice, playing position, striking angle, pressure, rhythm, volume, and, most importantly, listening.

You'll play and compare gongs from Ron's extensive planetary collection, discovering their individual voices and how they can be combined into meaningful sound journeys. No previous experience is required, only curiosity. Sessions are private and one on one, suited to every level, and can continue as ongoing training as your practice deepens.
